I’m a Reading Recovery Teacher: Print and Go Sub Plans

Reading, Book, Child.

Back to school is a wonderful and exhausting time!  My kiddos are nearing the end of Roaming and my classroom is almost in full swing.  I’ll be posting more about what I’m up to in Roaming Around the Known soon, but this week’s post is a quick one.

I know lots of Reading Recovery, Title I and intervention teachers don’t get subs when you are out, but because I have a classroom, too, I usually have a sub in the reading room.  I try to keep my plans as quick as possible while keeping some consistency with my regular lessons.

When I have a substitute who has some reading experience (we have a fabulous retired Title teacher who subs in our building), I leave my students’ action plans or known words in reading and writing for the sub so that she will have a reference point for where my students are working.
